If a team shoots poorly the week before against another team, should you take pity and give them extra marks when you play them this week?
Players don’t think so and neither do we.
We are constantly striving to provide a fun and competitive system. The beauty of the handicap system is to help make matches more competitive and when a match is close, it’s fun!
For the new leagues we’ve recently started, a new method for managing handicaps is in place.
In a nutshell, your average will not drop below 95% of your Best Known average for the first half of the league regardless of how you shot the week before.
For example if your Best Known is 3.0 and the first week you shoot a 2.5, then your average will automatically adjust to a 2.85 (95% of your Best Known) for your next match.
If you shoot over 3.0 the first week, hopefully that means you’re improving and you can try to repeat your excellent performance the following week.
